The goal of the project is the development of lead compounds against new nociceptor-selective protein targets suitable for pain therapy. The successful candidates will develop novel approaches for the selection of small molecules from encoded combinatorial libraries (phage display, DNA display) that specifically bind to complex protein targets. Molecules generated through these approaches will subsequently be evaluated in innovative, disease-relevant biological assays. The project is part of a long-term collaboration with groups from Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Priority will be given to candidates with previous experiences with encoded combinatorial libraries (phage display or DNA display), or in the fields of protein engineering and chemical biology.
